Signs of Spring?

Recommended Posts

Years ago I used to work fir an engineering company...we used to stock pile big chunks of steel in the yard and every year pied wagtails would nest in the steel....one year they nested next door on the steps going up in to a big truck...literally just on the step in plain view...the truck was stood for a week or two....then one day it had to go out...so the nest was moved ...then when the truck came back they put the nest back on the truck...the birds didn't seem to bat an eyelid....everyone was looking out for them to be honest ...and keeping the local cats away...

Grasshopper, if you see a bloke in a pub with a broken nose , scars from his cheek to his ear and with cauliflower ears, do not be afraid of him.

But be petrified of the guy who did that to him.

Isn’t that paraphrased from The Magnificent Seven, when Yul Bryner and Steve McQueen were interviewing gunslingers ?

Cheers.

I first heard it in the 60s. It was an Andy Capp quote from the cartoon series.😁

I was a great fan of Andy and Flo; I guess they’d be banned and hounded by the “progressive’s “ now .

Cheers.

Love the last Sunday in March when the clocks go forward. Finally feels like the long dark winter is behind now.

The change from winter weather to brighter skies seemed really quick, almost abrupt this year. Thank Christ we've broken the back of winter. I feel ten times more bright and optimistic.
