I thought they followed me around the park but turned out there were several in different places that would come and sit on my hand. They love mini suet pellets I used to get from Sainsburys. I had a few to come to hand at a leisure centre I worked at you might have visited if near Dartmouth. One day it had snowed and I was given the sites camera to go out take some photos as it did look like a winter wonderland. I walk out into the visitors carpark just a big flat area of snow there was just me and a little black dot about 100 yards away. As I walked towards the black dot I realised the dot was hopping towards me. I stoped it was a Robin he carried on coming till he was 6 inches from me toes and he just looked up at me. Bloody hell I thought he's asking for help so went to my car opened my snack bag broke of the crust from a pasty I had and went back. I stood in the same spot and whistled and he flew from a couple of Leylandii trees to in front of me so fed him the pasty (not on my hand). Every day after that I would drive the golf buggy (my maintenance truck) to the Leylandii trees and whistle and every day he would pop out and in the end had would land on my hand. Then in the spring to my surprise two came out it must have brought its mate who came to hand straight away. As I say before I thought the robin was following me about the park as I did different jobs. So I would get food out and feed him wherever I was and him would come and sit on my hand. Turned out I had several different ones coming to hand. I also very fond of the Blackbird but yet to get one on my hand will feed about a foot away button to hand. Something about both the Robin and the Blackbird in the spring when they sing their head off. But while the robin will sing on a branch maybe just above your head the blackbird like to be high up on the hip of a roof. The Robin often starts before first light which I cant hear so well any more with the tinnitus but wifey always asks "did you hear that Robin this morning". Farm I live on don’t have as many blackies as the estate I lived on previous, but a fair few thrushes about but they nowhere near as friendly an don’t hang about much, was told that blackbird an robins have the roundest eyes of all the songbirds that’s why they sing first in the morning, I like to think it’s just them waking folk up to cut the grass or work in gardens an get them some food in process haha 4 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Cheers Arry I’m sure the ones I had at old house used to moan about the grass being too long, an stand on the fence till k cut it for them, an as soon as I’d do the first strip they would be down searching for worms haha clever little things, always wonder tho why some animals will happily live next to or even exploit folk but others stay well clear 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I always think they must have been doing this for centuries before the industrial age when we all worked on the land. In hard weather I always take some seed to drop on my walks.
