jukel123 8,402
Very little here. Crocus and Snowdrop and a few daffodil shoots. Saw wood pigeons displaying yesterday. I live near a rookery and they are one of the first nesters. But they haven't shown up yet. Not seen any lambs or frog spawn I guess you lads in the South are getting the harvest in lol. chartpolski 24,173
It’s like a spring day here, sunshine and blue skies, 13 degrees. A pal has just shown me a picture he took this morning of a pair of foxes tied. Hens are starting to lay, but not counting any chicks just yet, plenty time for the weather to turn again. Cheers.
Daniel cain 45,851
When I see my first bits of frog spawn in my valley...spring has started here for me... Boxing day ,a few of us was fishing an inner city lake and could hear a vixen calling for 3 nights...could smell them all around the lake next day...

Spooky sound when it catches you unawares. I've got a large and a smaller wildlife pond and can guarantee the spawning date will be 48 hours either side of March 15th. All nearby ponds are sooner than that. But I think my ponds are in the shade so cooler in temperature. The males throw caution to the wind and flit between the two ponds desperately hoping to find a female. Some are clever and just squat between the two ponds hoping to intercept a just arriving female. I always look forward to it. The noise of calling at night is tremendous.
