SNAP SHOT 194 Posted February 10, 2008 Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 i don't know how others work this out but heres how i do it. i don't know if anyone else uses this formula but i just worked it out in my head a while back and no prob's with it it's scope MOA x drop divide distance if the velocity is accurate then so will the tables you build so chrony or check the net for velocity.......here goes.... if the scope is 1/4 Moa then use 4 if 1/8 Moa use 8 watch the decimal point on distance 150 = 1.50, 225 = 2.25 etc heres an example for my 58 grain v-max drops moa x drop / distance, my scope is 1/4 Moa drop at 275 yards = 5. inches distance is 275 yard 4 x 5. div 2.75 = adjustment in clicks on scope 4x 5.8= 23.2 divide by 2.75 = 8.43 rounded down to 8 clicks in elevation for target at 275 yards with rifle zeroed at 100. at 350 this drop is 12.75 inches so 4 x 12.75 div 3.50= 14.57 or rounded up 15 clicks in elevation...................enjoy Quote Link to post

Kenton industies in the US do a nice turret with laser etched distances marked on it. They also do them for reloads all you have to do is give the info of the load and they work out the drop and etch it on the turret. Im ordering two for my 223.and 6.5x55... Take a look at them. There quite interesting. rgds Dwight yes i've used these on a friends rifle very accurate, but the downfall is they are only specific to one bullet or reload, if you only use one cal and one brand of bullet then this is the way to go, also is altitude specific, So if you do a lot of shooting at different altitudes then these are no good, the rifle in question i've shot with the kenton industries turrets is a 6.5x55, and its very accurate indeed, he just put an altitude of 500 feet in. And has no probs so far, i'll stick to my tables as they seem to be working fine for me......... i just right the distance and click value inside the scope cover, and after a while the table of clicks and distance stick in yer head.......i use lee shooter ballistics program and chrony the rounds i want to shoot to give me drop tables to 500 yards.............then bob's your uncle.. Sounds like you have it all sewn up... Nice work.Unfortunately we cant reload in the republic of Ireland so im stuck with 140gr factory loads for my 6.5 x55 at 2650fps... there not to bad though.3/4 groups and i have zeroed at 2.5 inches high which gives me around 240 zero and 6.5 low at 300...
