As for noise around the holes back in the day with a little terrier who had a nose like a beagle. On more than one occasion we bolted a rabbit at least 3 times from different holes before catching it. They would slip a net or an unnetted hole etc. He would track them down and mark again and we would have another go. As said movement matters more if a rabbit sticks it head out and sees you it’s likely to go back in. The terrier also learnt that. I will never forget watching him by a hole and he could see the rabbit. He froze solid and swivelled his eyes to look at me to tell me he could see it.
