There's a few straight pull /bolt action one you guys can get fairly easy if I remember right. Think it's not hard to spend like a 15-22 or tipman .22 semi either ....I think the smi auto rimfires are a different thing for yall

I used to go to a place in North Essex and there would be 50+ on one field mate…..never seen anything like it.

I can well believe it mate. Though one thing I did notice a few times around there was some fields were covered in flint that could knacker a dogs feet up more than any other stoney ground i have ever run my dogs on as it was like having a feild full of razor blades especially if the ground was firm.

....yess actually..you also missed the cowboy on horse back  who'd drag him after kicking his guts out, regular police, and if I remember right had some dealings with cartel coyotes

Wonder if he had trouble with buzzards giving his ware abouts when killed anything as that would have been a signal to anyone who saw buzzards circling in a remote area. Recently been reading about how African poachers poisen what's left over of any animals they have killed to kill vultures on mass that can give their position away to game wardens.

Thanks to WDog's  original post l had to look up just what one of the dead animals in one of the pictures was . I settled on a nilgai antelope .  Obviously  not a Texan  native species .

Anyway the power of Google  dragged me deeper . I ended  watching  enough of Charles Beaty's  interviews and podcasts to be pretty sure he's  the real deal.

Prince of Poachers or not , anyone who's lived long enough and hunted regularly will have plenty of real stories to tell without too much reason for embellishment.

The way he recalls details of memorable hunts and and  escapes rings as   authentic .

As interesting as his own experiences  are  , the tales  he tells involving other illegal hunters  and the  Texas " poaching  culture " of the period puts things in a wider perspective.

Those massive  ranches he hunted over are  the result financial dealing and land grabbing dating back to before the Civil War . Imagine the fat cattle barons of the old cowboy films then add a history of international smuggling ,oil wealth and a whole lot more to the equation .

Fines for getting on the wrong side of the hunting  law were pretty minimal  at the time  . The  ranch owners could afford to get away with  being a bit more expressive of their displeasure .

TATs  if you watch one of his interviews he mentions buzzards too fat to fly!👍

You serious ? Flint isn't worse than chalk. Lol chalk dissolves in water breaks down flints hard like bell metal. That's why they used flint back in the day , an you still find flint tools to this day. . 🤣🤣. A can't believe you said that MC

Only caught the last few posts, hares never my thing ,upmost respect for them my favourite British mammal, should only be run by a dog ,not shot ,mchull hopefully agrees ,it's his quarry ,and out of anyone on here the one running the most ,yanks I haven't a clue what they call sport ,run ,I'm guessing bigger ,better ,than anything we've got ,but just a good few years behind us in tradition, ways ,should be asking the natives they exterminated about hunting, teach us all a lesson in hunting, no AR-15 ,just good field craft

There's lads on here out twice a week running that will pop on sit back not comment on none of the posts. Had there accounts over 20 odd year. But not much about coursing on here no more. Mc gets out but there's lads I know like I was that would f**k off work due to working for yourself an hit the land 3 times a week maybe 4.  But now it's f****d even more than it was 20 years ago. We was happy if we didn't get a tug or seen. Mobile phones becoming so good f****d it up social media more so too. When the big dopey phones were about it was bad. Lol. At age of 15 I was out working dogs. People back then had the Nokia things no camera. They may of rang coppers but couldn't pin point where they were if there not used to the area. Now they just look on phone screen gps can tell them from a pin head your where abouts. Lol f****d up.
