The collars can play up,when they on their way out...try a different collar with the box first, before looking into calibrating the receiver 👍

A lot say about being on top of the dog. I'm guessing it's like digging to a ferret. I've always dug to the side about half a foot width of a grafter just incase I hit the ferret or knock the soil in. You normally see the ferret away then if you need to dig to side a little more your finr. Last thing you want is to hit the ferret ad guess that's same with the dog. We all work diffrent some may say they dig straight over the top.

Depending on where the collar is on the dogs neck...the readings can change ..I like to break through just behind the dog, backfill the tube..dogs done it's job properly and the quarry should be Infront of you ready to be despatched..when your right on top of the dog..the quarry will try it's best to push past and that's when most of the damage is done to the dog imo👍DSC_1076.JPG.8c181aa6c7171060d5dcf18b0515d439.JPG

Alot may think differnt but many old terrier men that I've been told used too release them. If the fox hadn't taken a beating well that would get dispatched.. But back then it was a sport now with yuppys you can't call it a sport. But they used to release to catch them another day. Same with bolting them too the net. You couldn't tell the land owner you'd released them.

My eldest lad Daegan Lee ,he's around 6 yr old in that pic/taken in Bala...most of my old digging pals are now into the metal detecting and photography these days ...if the fox is able to run, then I would let them run,if no keeper was with me...same with the other fellas...
