Greyman 28,627 Posted Tuesday at 10:47 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 10:47 Quite sad listening to a lot of peoples story’s I fought against everything was told I was worthless and would be lucky to see 40 yo throughout school you’ll never be anything blah blah blah and it wasn’t until I decided I was worth more that I became more shake off the shackles and break out of your box you can all be more if you learn to believe and back yourselves even at 62 I’m still buying and selling making money and thinking of starting another business up in the next year or so the only things you can guarantee to fail at are the ones you don’t try so kick the can and see we’re it lands 9

Aled 506 Posted Tuesday at 11:34 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 11:34 Turned out OK, i should of made my teenage and early 20's easier for myself, and i would of had a lot more fun had i done so! However its turned out OK, I've got a good family, good friends, an acceptable working dog, access to my hobbies, and i like my job. Just wish i could discipline myself to lose that 1 stone in weight then I'd be sorted!!

You only need money when you are young, there's so much you can do with it for yourself and family.

chartpolski 23,996 Posted Tuesday at 12:15 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:15 Like most young people, I didn’t think about or plan for my future. Due to being in the right place or at the right time, lucky breaks, coincidence, having bosses that saw something in me, working hard and studying hard, fate allowed me to go places, do things, see things that I may never have done. I’ve had tremendous “ups” and catastrophic “downs” , but I’m a stoic and a bit of a fatalist and I’m still here very fit and healthy for my age and quite contented with my life. My only slight worry is that I may not be around long enough to impart my knowledge and experience on to my grandson, but I’m happy he has extended family that worship him and will make sure he is well looked after. Would I have done anything different in hindsight? I don’t know, maybe have gone down the academic route instead ? Possibly, but that may have been a bit sedate for me. Cheers.
TRUEBRIT66 1,586 Posted Tuesday at 12:49 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:49 Had a bit of a epiphany 4 years ago after living in the same house for 28 years decided to sale up and move away from Bristol. Gave the company I worked for some options based on my terms and they accepted them in full. Absolutely love where we are semi rural and twice the house and four times the garden for less than we sold ours so mortgage free also. Closer to our son and the grandchildren as well so happy days. Downside is after 55 years of perfect health I was hospitalised 2 years after after moving down here with severe CPPD disease after that knocking me for six and getting back to some normality I was diagnosed with Parkinsons last year. Im a bit gutted that my retirement wont be what I was expecting but as long as the tremors are manageable and I can continue shooting, fishing and walking for a few years after I retire (62 hopefully)I am not that bothered. Both me and the wife worked hard to get where we are now so turned out better than expected for me.

My 1st job, trainee gamekeeper, 2nd job, pest control operator!! Lol. Gamekeeper job didn't quite work out as planned, but absolutely loved the pest control.
