Now look at it from a father's perspective, mid 80's, you're made unemployed, Christmas coming up, three kids, struggling to make ends meet, do you think you would give a toss about 40 years down the line where you might have less "freedom?"

What is the benefit? I presume every man hates tax as much as the next man, but how else do you we suggest we raise revenue?

I’m assuming you know off “the Laffer Curve” ?

There comes a point when the tax rate gets up to a percentage  that the tax revenue actually falls.

You can only tax people or business to a point when they say it’s not worth it and either work less to drop into a lower tax bracket or move their assets to a tax haven or a country with a less oppressive tax regime.

So the “taxing the rich ‘till the pips squeak” is counter productive once it reaches a certain level .

Well no shit, that's a given as our population is at its highest, still, our tax revenue is less than the developed countries in the EU. But, yes, you have a point, the taxes we raise clearly aren't doing a good enough job, my solutions, I don't know, but I do know we will suffer the brunt whatever is done.
