I agree, I think you have literary skills beyond my capabilities……and I think you are way more balanced than me in your assessment.

Problem is mate cost of living is through the roof most places world wide, seen a few family's in the last year went to Australia on tick tock and we're back within 6moths to a year. we ain't the only ones with a tyranny government mate.

Bit of digression on the thread but a lot of British people have Stockholm Syndrome when they move…..at least that’s what I have noticed here.

They go to pieces if they don’t have a million rules and regulations to follow and some official treating them like shit……absolutely true story, seen it a few times now.

I remember being told in the early 80s that the money that could be earned in Oz doing the same job in mining was double than that in the UK. I remember an overman at the pit I worked at who had took his family to south Africa and worked in the mines and used to tell us some right tales a few of the lads used to take the piss out of him nick naming him bwana. 😆

I agree the brits have Stockholm Syndrome. The British sense of fairness means ordinary  people, some of whom are living on the edge, take up the cudgel for the obscenely rich and defend them when a few extra pennies are being taken from them. The media, owned exclusively by the rich, encourage this attitude.

I try to argue with stats and comparisons with the rest of Europe Wilf, not emotion or insult .

The tax take in this country is roughly similar to the France and Germany, yet the top ten per cent in this country are doing better and better. We ordinary Joes are around £7000 per annum worse off than our counterparts in Europe. Where is that money going? Why are our  pensioners faring far worse than French and German pensioners? Our children being born smaller? Our life expectancy less? Our NHS performing  less well? Our NHS dentistry disappearing?

Here"s an anecdote. A true one, not a Daily Mail Elvis on the moon one.

When my kids went to Uni I was doing OK financially.  They received no maintenance grant because of my earnings. I was happy to pay up. One of their mate's fathers owns a farm of several hundred acres, he's got  many millions of pounds in land and  farm machinery. He's got a top class landrover, and he and his Mrs have top of the range cars.

His kids got a full maintenance grant each worth thousands of pounds of taxpayers'  money by virtue of an imaginative accountant and warped 'dodgy'  tax regulations.

I don't go around gnashing my teeth about these injustices as you often  infer, but I am constantly aware of them.

Off for a walk around Derwentwater . About minus 7 here still. Have a good day lads.

Fair enough mate, but you still have not said what British people gain by handing politicians more money to burn ?

Ill ask, I think for the third time, what’s the benefit of it and why is it worth ruining someone in order to do it ?

Why do you think the people who abuse you need more money to do it with ?….i honestly don’t understand the logic mate ?

Edited to add:

Sorry if I took the piss and you thought I was a bit rude, but it just seemed a proposition so ludicrous that I couldn’t help it…..absolutely no offence intended squire.

You’re paying the interest now !…..so will your kids…..and so will their grandkids !

Some folk look at these charlatans burning ordinary peoples money like it’s nothing and say “Oh, if only that small section over there paid a lot more we would get to see some benefit”

Blokes like me say “EVERYONE should be paying way less because they can’t be trusted with it and they only use it to abuse us with anyway”

Don’t take my word for it, the tax take has never been higher and look what’s happening outside your window !

Or are our governments frightened to death to tax the feck out of big businesses like they do in developed countries across the EU?
