Can they legally do that? The councils, as in postpone locals because they will obviously lose? Surely that has to be challenged by Reform and demanded by the population.

Fuuck me, I don’t even want to visit anymore. Anybody fancy a free holiday? Just fetch me a couple of pups over and I’ll pay for the trip

It’s supposedly because Labour is doing away with all the local councils , county councils, etc and each county will only have one unitary council. This isn’t planned until three years time, but it looks like those councils under threat from Reform want to postpone any elections until the changes go through meaning some councillor’s will be in place unchallenged for seven years !

The councils can only ASK for a cancellation of elections, the government minister has to agree with it, but as Labour are forecast for a hiding in the local elections it’s a safe bet they will allow the cancellations !

If this was anywhere else in the world Labour would be screaming anti democratic  dictatorship, etc.

”Democracy delayed, is democracy denied”.

Cheers.

There must be a legal challenge to this. It’s undemocratic ffs! And reshaping the councils to exactly how they used to be should be no reason to withhold elections. They really do want lining up against the wall!!!

I agree that only one council per county is sensible, but denying elections is undemocratic, it’s fairly obvious that current councillors will have an advantage in elections to a unitary council in three years time, so it’s best for the incumbents not to have elections and put the likes of Reform at a distinct disadvantage.

Cheers.

Has to be illegal! It’s an obvious ploy. Problem is none of the main partys are gonna contest it because it keeps them both in power locally. Reform have to contest this in the courts and the media etc have to pull it apart.

You never considered New Zealand, more vitamin D? I would move, don't know what rail career prospects are in Canada and New Zealand.

My old Local Operations Manager upped sticks and emigrated to New Zealand he's now an operations manager for the railway in Wellington, I remember him nicking my PPE and RIO vest for me to take pictures of him standing next to the Network Rail Response vehicle to add to his CV, good luck to him this country is now a grade A shit hole.

I was wondering whether our tickets transferred to places like Canada, Oz & New Zealand.
