Rude awakening

Woke up early this morning after some torrential rain last all the doors had closed in the boat, strange stuck my head outside to see my rudder had got stuck under the jetty and lifted the hole jetty out the water, so I,m out there in pouring rain with my knife out cutting the ropes then had to get o long pole and leaver the whole boat forward until she popped up like a cork

Crikey at least it's sorted I watched some of the canal collapse videos boats on there side and pulled down stream jammed against other boat etc ..

can be dodgy can’t they lol seen a few near misses one lad off a 20 ft walkway landed on a scaff tube with his arse cheek never seen bruising like it in my life

So at 3.30am I was woken by what sounded like a tornado outside.much stronger winds than with all of these storms we have had .12.30 nothing then 4.30 nothing.whatever it was it only lasted a short while.

We’re all good thanks everyone, water level rose by 2ft in the night, my boat is over 30 tons so it lifted the whole jetty out the water when I cut the ropes and got a bar behind it the whole boat went up about a foot or more dogs shit there selves luckily the jetty sat back down on its stands with quite a Big Bang but we are all good now

Funny enough just ad my dad on the blower, he was just on the way back from his mooring to check on it and the boat, coz hadn't since been before xmas. Said all was ok. Also he was saying same about Bridgewater. He said there was a wide beam stuck on it when it collapsed he thinks ?

You thinking of plotting up on there when you go afloat mate, I had a mooring at goitre warfe about 15 year back lovely place to reside but hard work boating low bridges and low water levels in summer, it’s 25% cheaper because it’s landlocked which is a bonus but you have to price craneage and transport if you ever want to leave
