I didn’t say anything about using another purebred

No but you insisted you don't want any sighthound blood, why not a good lurcher, one that is actually worked and doing the job?

Having owned a GSP I'm biased to say go down the pointer route. Would be interesting to see their progres!!

fuji be the man to see tried tested up on the hills with descent blood in em

What type ye after? Must have missed it. I’d personally go pointer, always fancied a pointer cross saw a shed load 15/20 year ago when they was big up here in north east, never got round to getting on

Bedlington or Bull would be my choice, both offspring would be able to catch fox day/night...and a fair chance you could find homes for whatever you don't want then....save you knocking pups on the head?

Or half X bull/grey..breed some fast 3/4 grey 1/4 bulls???

Not knocking pointers, but you don't hear of many folk using them for a lurcher..I've seen a few over the years, but no one has kept them going breeding wise...they seem to blend in with out with other xs and fizzle out ...

Is there many folks wanting half x collie/greys these days, since Hancock stopped?

Or use  a full desert dog?

Bullx aren’t working no hill for you mind

If you want hill work and lamping , I’d find the hardest collie dog you can find and use that

if just hill work stick a hound over it plenty packs around will let you use a dog

There’s a very good pure pointer in aberdare supposed to be some animal aswell

He’s done nowt mate and I don’t deny it! As I’ve said, it’s been my fault but to let his blood go, well, it’s something I’d rather not happen. He’s from top lines and pedi

I’ve got a choice of 3 good working collies I may go with one if I can’t find a mix breed

Only reason I’d just a pure grey is for a pointer first cross purely because I’d like to try one ,

otherwise there plenty boys around here with dogs that work the hills and quarry we’ve got,

Most boys put pure hounds on the lurchers and go from there
