WataWalloper 376 Posted Friday at 15:50 Report Share Posted Friday at 15:50 What type ye after? Must have missed it. I’d personally go pointer, always fancied a pointer cross saw a shed load 15/20 year ago when they was big up here in north east, never got round to getting one
Daniel cain 45,527 Posted Friday at 16:10 Report Share Posted Friday at 16:10 Bedlington or Bull would be my choice, both offspring would be able to catch fox day/night...and a fair chance you could find homes for whatever you don't want then....save you knocking pups on the head? Or half X bull/grey..breed some fast 3/4 grey 1/4 bulls??? Not knocking pointers, but you don't hear of many folk using them for a lurcher..I've seen a few over the years, but no one has kept them going breeding wise...they seem to blend in with out with other xs and fizzle out ... Is there many folks wanting half x collie/greys these days, since Hancock stopped? Or use a full desert dog?
Goly 270 Posted Friday at 16:12 Report Share Posted Friday at 16:12 Why the insistence on no sighthound blood? You're not going to get necessarily better pups by crossing to another pure breed? What about a working lurcher with little sighthound blood in it, surely that would be a better choice using a dog that does what a lurcher is supposed to do, chase and catch things?

Not everybody stays doing sake thjng all the time they draft dogs, most the lads I know that worked pointer crosses lamped rabbits an hunted the fells an moors up this way, the lads who still do same thing still have the same type but a few are more into ferreting now an run little whippet crosses, they seem to suit the folk that like to hunt for the gear anyways
