Cheers.

Was there ever a more ridiculous statement than: ”Well, it’s better than (insert place here)” when speaking about decimated towns and communities in the U.K. ? I just had a flying visit back

I know it well , nice castle,

I worked in the Middle East for 26 years and travelled the world but I’m a home bird now, settled with my dogs and poultry, but I guess I’ll be back in the Middle East in march for our grandsons tenth birthday, can’t miss that. Hopefully a trip to Ireland to hunt with some pals over there, but taking it easy and enjoying life just now. Stay lucky!

Cheers

A rather pathetic answer.

If you want to be sarcastic or derogatory about others then that’s ok 👍 It’s late , I’ve had a great day, I honestly hope you have aswell.

Cheers.

If I took the inference wrong, then I apologise.

Mass immigration of the poorest has certainly not helped matters but rough villages like mine have been in ruin without much immigration, poverty is the major culprit in my opinion.

Closing of the pits was the main cause I would say mate and back then their was no other big employers in the area to take up these mass job losses.

Great post and agree, but, I'd like to give Farage the benefit of the doubt and at least see if he would attempt to get us out of this mess.

TBH mate and I know i sound brow beaten and same i see a glimmer of hope in Reform and Farage as they talk about things we agree with but to get our towns and cities back to how they used to be i think you would have more chance of bringing Nelson back to life. The hundred year old stuffed lion that resides in Clifton park museum in Rotherham.

I think we are going to see a lot more of it as well mate. One of the poshest parts of Bristol have been rammed with "van lifers" for a few years now and the community is getting bigger and bigger. Council cant move them on as they cant house them and there is nowhere else for them to go.   Caravan City: Why People are leaving Bristol’s Housing Market for Life on Wheel’s… - YouTube

There's even a guy living in a cave off the Avon Gorge!

Got to be honest if I went down that route I'd move away from the communities plenty of quiet side roads and country laybys down by us that have seen the discreet ones moving on to.

Anyways good luck to you and Happy New Year to everyone on here, fingers crossed 2025 is the Year the Great is put back into Britain one way or another.

What do these cats in the vans do True?, go to work in the day then come back to the lanes, suppose some of them could be working on a laptop from their vans, few retired with a lumper to live off etc

Some work have "normal" life styles and nice vans having chosen that route because they cant afford rents, mortgages etc. There are others that have dropped out of society completely and live like pigs which is a shame as it tars them all with the same brush.

The mob in the news below were mostly illegals and parked by the main route into Bristol.

I was on holiday in Gran Canaria just recently. There was a van/ car community near the hotel. They used to party on cheap wine. I asked them what the score was and they said they were priced out of accommodation because of tourists like me. They worked ........in the tourist industry. So it was a never ending circle. They also blamed the government.

Seemed a decent life to me. They had a community vibe and they had the climate.
