TAKE DOWN RIFLES

Recommended Posts

I haven’t had an airgun for years. But back in the day always fancied a take down. The air arms s410 tdr was the only one on the market back then I think.  I came across these that popped up on social. The Brocock  Ranger XR and the Brocock Pathfinder . I can’t believe how small they take down. With stock folded and silencer off , less than 19 inches ! Amazing. Has anyone owned fired or even held one of these ? What was your thoughts? Am just being nosey , it’s a long time since I looked at anything airifle related. Cheers

Back in the day this little thing would of been a handy tool . Any body got any experience of other models of take downs ? And as far as Brococks are concerned I can only remember them individual little cartridge cases they made were you pumped up the cartridge which looked like a bullet casing then added a pellet to the end of them. Those was years and years ago

The Edgun Leshy is I believe the shortest gun when folded going down to 299mm so less than a foot long. I would have the FX Verminator as a hunting gun if I were to buy again but when I was about to order one, I heard that FX were stopping production so I bought a Mk3 Wildcat fac.

Brocock are now part of Daystate which is a very good reason not to buy one with that company's record for support when things go wrong and they often do.

If my memory serves me correctly, Kral also make a fold down which will be a fraction of the cost of Daystate guns and the reputation of Kral and some of the other Turkish manufacturers has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years.  One of our regular members, Big mac or Jimmy has dipped his toes into these Turkish guns and will tell you just how good they are now.

How i am shooting lately with the catty been tempted to look into one of these. I remember the gun you described mate with the cartridge you pumped up an old mate bought one in the mid 80s and when he brought it round to show me along with a cartridge belt it was pretty accurate though i thought then they would never catch as it seemed to much faffing about filling the cartridges with air when it was just a case of cocking our spring guns. The same lad older than me was a welder and had worked on the construction of the Humber bridge and had more money than sense as every time a new air rifle came out he would buy it and sell the previous one's he had bought. I ended up buying a cracking gun off him a Feinwerkbau sport.

I remember the sports was a good rifle. The gun I shot the most with at night was HW77 carbine 177. And I paid pence for it second hand

a guy had a artemis pistol that had a rifle stock fitted and was running the legal limit for a air rifle.after being modded and fettled it was a nice bit of kit.had a go with it and was impressed he used it for ratting.

I had one of them a few months back to try and they are decent

I remember the Brococks, just before PCP tech got perfected. Seemed a good idea at the time. Best/worst that I seen was a converted .303 SMLE. A travesty.
