Watched this film many years ago. But mel Gibson did well with this film won some awards if I remember rightly. Jim Caviezel played a great part in the film. When he's hit with the cat of nine tails. Maybe it's called something else. But that's what you hear the name of the weapon. His f***ing ribs showing. Had my wife in tears. She's never watched it. Can't believe it came out in 2004 20 year old.

Funnily enough I decided on watching it for the first time ever the other month. Quite a touching and very brutal movi Pontius Pilates role in Jesus' death is understated in the movie, some Mel Gibson bias at play?

AKA flagrum from flagellate (i ain't as daft as i look),I once actually saw a self flagellation spectacle in Gilgit northern pakistan.

Yeah Jim Caviezel said that when he was carrying the cross he felt jesus with him. Something about he'd hurt his arm. An the pain went and to play the part right he felt like jesus was in him. Plus somebody got struck by lighting filming it. Don't know weather it was jim. Played a brilliant part though.

I remember the first time I watched it with my son and we were pretty speechless at the end of it, it could probably have quite an affect on some people.
