mel b 2,326
I've been out of the loop with dentists, and hadn't been for 14 years . My last visit before that was 18 years. I give dentist a wide birth , because anaesthetic doesn't work very well on me , so it's never a pleasant experience. I had a filling break just over three months ago . My mrs got me an appointment, but that was a month away . The dentists sent me a text reminder , and called me every week to check that I was still going . They called me on the morning of the appointment to check again , then called me half an hour before the appointment, and cancelled it !. I rebooked another appointment, that was another month away . They sent me a text reminder every week, and called me every week , to check that I was still going , they called me half an hour before the appointment to check that I was still going , and then when I turned up at the appointment, they said that I didn't have an appointment, and they had no record of me !. I rebooked another appointment, in another month's time . They sent me a text reminder every week , and called me every week , and I finally got an appointment, the dentist said I had a broken filling ( no shit sherlock). I booked another appointment for last week to have the filling repaired , and paid in full , up front . They texted and called me every day to make sure that I was still going , and even called me an hour before the appointment, I then got a call half an hour before the appointment, and they cancelled it ( wankers !!!!). My mrs called the dentist 50yards away , on Wednesday morning. I went in on Wednesday afternoon, and they repaired the filling . The original dentist won't give me my money back , they've said that it's not their fault that I'm not prepared to wait until the end of January for the next available appointment. A younger me would have smashed some fuckers teeth out .
tatsblisters 9,570
Can't complain about my dental practice that's only a five minute walk from my house. Just wish I had looked after my teeth better when younger though i believe the stuff they use in fillings is a lot better than what they used 40 years ago plus more emphasis is put on dental hygiene these days. One of the first things I would do if I won a few bob on the lottery is pay and have them implants done as when I remove my pallet I have mouth and teeth like an old badger digging terrier.
Qbgrey 4,089
I got 5 gold teeth not at the front the massive side ones, recently down to 3 as 2 had to be pulled out. Had all my silver fillings replaced for porcelain and my 2 front teeth renews for new ones as they was looking a bit worn out. It’s not a cheap hobby

A Land Rover was on a 4' farm jack, the vehicle slipped and the handle came uphit me up the jaw and took me off my feet. Didn't quite knock me out, but there were stars. I had a mouth full of blood with what I thought were jaw bone bits turns out the bits were teeth. I've had the fixed twice since then and they told me it was gonna be root canal eventually. The implant for the other side was a tooth I lost years ago. Went through a front door 40 odd years ago, having a bit of a bundle at a party. Apart from that my teeth are in good order, apart from a bit of wear and tear. Oh, I once had a pull saw pinch up a tree, I pushed really hard to free it, the blade shattered and a piece chipped both my top and bottom incisors. It also cut both my top and bottom lip, blood pissing everywhere, the owner of the tree screamed when I knocked for a cloth for the blood. Now I've got to dig deep if I want to keep my Hollywood smile. It's a joke Dentist cost in this country. You're lucky and you've been careful with your teeth. You reminded me , I was lifting a furnace crucible out stood on top using a big pair of blacksmith tongs , two of us , probably should've been three. 321 lift , my side crumbled tongs came up and smacked me in the gob. Went to emergency dentist he literally drew a straight line along my front teeth and trimmed them to remove the chips, my father took the Mickey saying I had Hollywood teeth. I also had a rotten wisdom pulled that cut my cheek about, whisky and pain killers for a couple of weeks then quick trip to dentist and he pulled it without even telling me , thought he was gonna pull my head off. Felt like he was using the tongs from the foundry lol Edited December 8 by Borr

It’s not a cheap hobby I had 3 gold crowns put in years ago late 80s and I was out of work at the time and got them for free i only have one remaining and when the other two were removed with the tooth years later the dental surgeon asked me if I wanted them I think i said no as I could hardly talk due to spitting blood and all my mouth and face numb. fireman 10,884
Where do i start as at the moment i look like one of those russian homeless glue sniffers,i lost my front teeth a while ago but they weren't real just a cap type jobby then i had 6 took out last monday and still have a swollen face, but that was the knocking back to solid to rebuild with dentures in 3 months time.. I hadn't been able to get a dentist for years and was lucky to get a couple of teeth pulled at xmas last year at a cost of £580 but was lucky enough for my misses to see someone filling out a NHS form when she was at her dentist and she asked for one for me and they took me on. 10 years a snackhead and 40 + years of smoking have left there mark and i can't wait to be able to open my mouth again without shame... Eastern europe is better than turkey and my youngest lad had a romainian girlfriend who's family still go back for the dentist and in romainian they train longer than here to be a dentist and the standard is very much equal to ours if not better..cheaper to by a long way...

It's like talking to simpletons . The woman on the desk , is either a fantastic blagger, or a complete feckin retard . When they told me that I didn't have an appointment, I showed her the texts , and explained that I'd spoken to her 30 minutes previously , and she denied all knowledge of the texts and calls , despite me showing her my phone. She was feckin amazing .

That's a bit of a silly thing to say.Every dentist is better than every dentist in Turkey are they? And to say that Romainian dentistry is equal to ours doesn't mean much.I ended up getting a load of work done abroad to get some shocking work put right that I had done in the UK.You just have to do your homework wherever you go. My new one is to get cold callers going. Especially when they are Indian are called Andrew or Martin, Shirley or similar. Other times, I will just have a full on chat with them, asking about their families, hobbies, favourite foods etc. I've made loads of friends.
