Dogs paw pad cut

Hi lads what's the best think I can do to heal this cut on my dogs paw

+ whatever you like, salt water, cut heal, spray

That’s nowt mate. As said, keep it clean and probs best not let the cnut run about for a month or two. If it doesn’t start to look like it’s pulling together after a few days, then straight to the vet

If doesn't  start to knit together , get a vet's advice.

 

Otherwise rest as long as needed  for the  wound to heal and  keep it clean .Even when the dog is back on all its feet don't  let it hurtle about and try to keep it off hard surfaces . It could be tender for a few weeks until the pad has hardened-up.

My bitch did something similar about three weeks ago , managed to cut and tear a patch of skin off the pad .   It stopped bleeding quite quickly and it was obviously very tender but has  healed surprisingly fast .  

 A bit of anti bacterial spray as used on horse wounds (horsey people have some good stuff!) was available so l used it . Keeping it clean was the maIn aim though . Easier said than done!

Attempts at grass only exercise until the pad hardens-up  isn't easy when the little cow has an affiliation with mucky puddles and mud!

Some good advice above and it looks like you've made a good start

Definitely the traditional first aid of salt water every day then wound spray. After a few days that needs to stop, assuming it's not infected as the first aid is also killing some of the new tissue

I use greyhound specific boots to keep out the mud (the racers use them for corn treatment) which fit much better than standard boots and have the added advantage the dogs hate walking in them so there's less impact. If you can get a cheap standard boot then I'd tape it on

So hard to tell from a photo but my gut feeling is that's a big enough split it will take a time to heal without intervention and I'd recommend visiting a vet.

I always found warm salt water dries em out quick
