Tank137 0
Hello: looking at the attached AYA in a local shop. No model and I’ve search many photos with no luck. I did see several others where the person was advised to contact AYA and they would assist at no cost. I did that and they now want 100 euros deposited into account first. I was able to get year from internet. Just looking for model. any help will be greatly appreciated.
Meece 1,958
Well it could be a #4 or a yeoman ejector. There is a bit of oddness in the engraving across the top next to the top lever and the flat sort of plain side panel It is old,, possibly made in the 1960 > 1965 range. It is an ejector so it's not a #3 or a simple yeoman. But it could be a yeoman ejector. It's not the same as. My #4 but overall it's a bit plain. It needs a good clean. What are the barrel lengths. At least the screw slots haven't been hacked about and the gun slots are all in what appear to be in a std position. What are the proof marks and choke markings on the underside of the barrels.?. At the end of the day it may be nice to know but it's more down to how it comes to the shoulder and how you shoot with it. If you can shoot 25 out of 25 it really doesn't matter. What is the shape of the safety slide button catch.
FLATTOP 4,495
I’ve got a No4 it looks like the one I’ve got,a lot scruffier than my one though. AYA No.4 26 INCH BARRELS EJECTOR S/B/S CHOKE 1/4 AND IMP
Meece 1,958
An image of my #4 from about 1974/5. The action is case hardened blue mottle and the action is flat sided as was the Yeoman ejector from the early 60s that I took in to a dealer to have it chopped up and get the set number taken offf my certificate. Now my old yeoman ejector had straight pins through the action but you'll notice that this action has covered screws which have counter locking screws. At the end of the day the op's gun looks in good condition although it looks like it could do with a bit of a clean up. both of my guns had 28 inch barrels. The OP's gun could have been sold through a third party company like Sears & Roebuck or similar. I have seen guns that have been 3rd party type sales and are similar to guns sold in Europe but not the same. as in the odd shape of the sides of the action. As far as I know ASI LTD ( King Brothers) went over to Spain in the late 50s and got talking to AyA. and subsequently took British made guns over for AyA to copy, Manufacture and supply. ASI are still the importers of AyA guns. The AyA #4 is a copy of a Westley Richards, Anson & Deeley box lock action. Anyway if the gun fits the op and he puts the lead on target it is a fine gun with many years of service. PS. this gun shoots 28> 30 gram cartridges very nicely. If you load it with 36 gram magnum high brass cartridges the gun will have excess recoil. A nice driven pheasant gun or walked up game, wing shooting or shooting over decoys

Meece 1,958
Another clearer picture of my #4 action showing the screws and locking screws and not just straight through pins.
FLATTOP 4,495
@Meece here is the original advert that I bought it from way back in 2017 and it stated 26” but thinking about it your right it’s probably 28” as a friend of mine had a 26” shotgun and I remarked on how short it looked and said it looked like a sawn off lol. Its a lovely well balanced gun but I can’t remember the last time I used it I always go for my rifle I enjoy it more, funny enough I took it out of the cabinet today after a mooch with the rifle and wiped it down with an oily cloth, here’s a few pics. Edited to say I think the original poster has disappeared like a lot of newbies on here last seen Dec 4 oh well it’s good to talk lol… Edited January 8 by FLATTOP
Meece 1,958
The op possibly thought that there was no response to his post. I don't come on here very often and I only found it by chance. your flooring is the same as our kitchen. Would it be possible for you to take some more pictures of your gun with more light on the gun. the pictures that you have been good enough to post are so unlit that they are just like black cardboard cut outs. It's nice to see gun porn. The floor is nice though.

Oh well the OP might come back but it’s still good info for others to look at, the kitchen is porcelain nice to lay on in the summer lol and the lounge Oak feels like Mumsnet lol, I’ve only got one picture to hand an old one I will try and take some in the field when I get back I’m off on my travels today to Mexico.
