DIDO.1 22,629 Posted Monday at 21:56 Report Share Posted Monday at 21:56 Mate of mine has just moved back into his family home. The house is a farm house on the family estate, he grew up there. The estate is held in a trust of some kind so no individual owns it. His late father farmed that side of the land but now he has moved back in to the house the land being farmed by someone else in the family. The house is massive, but run down. Now bear in mind he has a full time job and owns his own house that's rented out. So this big estate house qualifies for home improvement and insulation grants because.... ...he's single, he earns just under the 35 grand limit, it has a gas boiler and it's under a certain energy rating. So old people are freezing to death and this house is having tens of thousands spent on it. New heat source pump thing, full insulation, loads of new plastering, new radiators and a roof full of solar panels . A fckin small mansion owned by a massive estate. Worlds gone mad I'm shivering my tits off in a draughty house and I'll get fck all 3
Welsh_red 4,628 Posted Monday at 22:44 Report Share Posted Monday at 22:44 I had a good friend who was a plumber who worked doing the "nest scheme" thing years ago where they gave u new boiler, radiators etc. Me and my Mrs didn't qualify for it because we earned to much. I was working for a builder and my Mrs working in childcare . We just Scrape through every year and still earnt to much. My friend said the same as you , he worked on some huge mansions putting in loads of radiators and redoing everything there . One place had a massive fishing pond with a island in the middle with a sun roon on it with a bridge leading to it . Yet me and My Mrs went eligible. Stupid as fook 1
tatsblisters 9,481 Posted Tuesday at 06:47 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 06:47 My old boiler packed up in March this year and I was told we might qualify for help with us both being in our 60s and the wife who had an heart attack the year before we both work in minimum pay job's but get small work pensions so we didn't qualify. The gas engineer who fitted our new combi boiler told me how he had fitted new boilers for a few Asian landlords who rented properties to the elderly and vulnerable and they qualified for the grants and the landlords got new boilers in their rented properties without it costing them a penny were as it cost me 4 grand for a new boiler and some new radiators. Its an interesting one these type of things, my mother in law used to always go in about how she didn’t need the heating allowance so the government should keep it and I used to argue that it’s her money in the first place, it’s not a f***ing hand out…..it’s a hand back. To put it all in context, in the time it took me to write this the interest on the debt of the country, money borrowed by the government to fund betraying us and keep Abdul in the style he wants, went up a million quid ! That's million more you owe now than when you started reading this post ! £20k boiler is a microscopic drip in a very big ocean…..good luck to him, hope he takes them for every penny he can get.
