Armed forces dog men

Recommended Posts

Don't think it would work, as you could be posted  to different  places in the forces , and not get ir put the time into the dog, to work it propley. I might be wrong , would depend  on your job in the forces.

I imagine it would need to be a very specific role tied to a base and with a marriage partner at home. My friends who've been in the forces all moved several times and all had overseas postings and combat tours. One is a boxer dog fanatic and was keeping three in married quarters, he did five tours in Iraq and Afghan so a lot of stress on the family

Years ago i met a lad who was in the RAF Plummer mentioned him in one of his books i didn't know the role he had in the RAF but his lurchers were run regularly especially the black rough coated bitch a mix of deerhound greyhound and collie that i saw run that was pretty decent on hares.

Just something Ive always wondered about, is it possible to be in the Army/Navy/Air force and work lurchers/terriers regularly, how does it work

I had a friend  the army but he was unmarried and came home to his parents when on leave . They looked after his dog and ferrets.

In the past , overseas military coursing clubs were common . But that was in days when Officers had time to  sit on the veranda sipping mint julips and potting passing tigers or Mau Mau insurgents .

Bit  different today .
