Achilles-13 3
Hi all About 1,5 years ago I bought a sauer 100xt in 308, rifle shoots well with my preferred ammo and took it out a handfull of times (6). Recently I noticed that the recoil pad started “rubbing off”, resulting in black stripes on clothing where the rifle rests / is manoeuvered during drives/hunting and in the place I store it . (Easy enough to clean off the cabinet, stains are near impossible to get out of my clothes that don’t even stain with oil…) I contacted my RFD and they sent me a new recoil pad free of charge, it arrived today and what do you now? It rubs off black as well, even when running your thumb along the edges etc. I contacted them again, saying it rubs off as well, made a couple videos to go along with it. Am I being too picky for going after this? On the one hand its a 1200 gbp rifle from a very reputable producer, it should not do that… or I could just take the new recoil pad, use contact cement for shoes and glue on a nice strip of leather and be done with it… ps, never cleaned the stock with anything else but a clean brush and moist cotton rag. wwyd? Deker 3,478 Posted Sunday at 08:25 Report Share Posted Sunday at 08:25 Had this problem with my Remington some while ago. It was a known problem and caused by the wrong mix of ingredients in manufacturing. All replaced and fine now. I guess the same issue, but who knows? Quote Link to post
