It's easier in the long run. Whatever you do , don't watch a YouTube video of ingrown toenails being removed .
forest of dean redneck 11,679
I suffered with them as a teen on both big toes apparently you should cut the nail straight across and not curved each end ? Used to go to the gp and I’ve had them frozen and cut down the side then it yanked out , then I used to butcher them myself and in the end I was referred to hospital was given general anaesthetic and had both removed and nail bed bone scraped was told they would grow back and both did jagged and horrible looking lol

Two grew back( they aint a pretty sight), and two didn't. When I had the first two done , I explained to the woman doing it that anaesthetic doesn't work very well on me. She took no notice whatsoever, and the anaesthetic wore off when she was halfway through removing the big toenail. She wasn't able to give me any more anaesthetic, so I had to grit my teeth for the next ten minutes while she chopped away with that little spear thing . I was pretty close to pissing my pants . 1 1

Got fungal toe on one foot, had looked at, it don't hurt I just grind the nail right low, then don't look to bad .I was told how they remove toe nail, very pain, cut nail.out, then while still raw flesh. They pour a type of acid into the nail bed, that kill the root, and never grows back.so just have toe no nail, raw flesh.you have to be careful that they don't get infected even later on, because you nothing protect it now no nail.me.i rather stay as I am with out the pain of a Op, etc.
