Popular Post DIDO.1 22,624
Just had our old terrier PTS. She had started having mini strokes and it was getting to hard to see her struggling. She was taken off someone who wasn't looking after her and had been knocking her about. She ended up with a lad who did the terriers for one of the fell packs and did a season there. The lad retired and the old dog was sat on his yard, being well looked after but he had to many dogs without work.....so she came to us. She did a bit of ratting with me, but really, she became a spoilt fat lap dog. She would cower and shake if you moved a hand over her for the first year, but eventually that stopped and she grew to trust us. We never raised a hand to her and she knew we never would. She had served her time and was retired and she knew it. She was food obsessed, from experiences in her younger years we guess, and would rob and steal anywhere she could. Would chew the bottom out of a shopping bag and carefully remove an item for herself, then wag her stump when we shouted at her, no longer scared of raised voices. She spent every minute with our border as her partner in crime, emptying my log store looking for mice or trying to raid the bins. She was there for me during the bad year when my Mrs was ill, calming and peaceful, attached to my side. Don't know how I would of got through that time without her. Absolutely devastated and never cried like that for a long time. Just thought I'd share her story. 29

steve66 3,373
Sad to hear that but always take comfort from the fact that you provided a good home and life for the little dog , one thing life’s never dull with a terrier about

eastcoast 4,110 Posted Friday at 20:03 Report Share Posted Friday at 20:03 A sad situation but lovely eulogy, I should be so lucky that someone writes anything as good when I pop me clogs. Seemed a proper terrier character and lucky too, even though dealt a bad hand early days ended up being given a good quality of life with decent people. RIP.
