forest of dean redneck 11,524 Posted yesterday at 20:23 Report Share Posted yesterday at 20:23 Yeah funnily enough I had someone supposed to turn up last night , apparently they couldn’t find the place so instead of just messaging me they drove off .
stresser 10 Posted yesterday at 20:27 Report Share Posted yesterday at 20:27 Be very wary of "buyers" offering bank transfer or PayPal. Insist on cash and watch the excuses come.
neil r 1,843
I’ve given up trying to sell on Facebook. You get messages asking if it’s still available so you say yes and they never respond . Another one is if you’ve got something up for say £100 they’ll message you and say £20 cash and I’ll collect tonight , like they’re doing you a favour . I had one clown from Chorley message me within minutes of me putting a reel on saying he definitely wanted it so we did a deal and I arranged to meet him next morning at darwen services . He never showed up and wouldn’t answer any messages . Buying can be as bad on there though , I’ve responded to a fair few ads and had either no response or been messed about . I recently tried to buy some old billhooks off a bloke in Blackburn that I gave up on . I messaged him on a Friday and he replied late on Saturday night so I said I’ll come in the morning and he sent a message back saying it wasn’t possible due to it being the sabbath and he had chores to do . I said no problem I can come on Monday . He never replied again till Monday dinner by which time I was out and about so I said i can come after tea and he again said he had chores to do so it wasn’t possible . I said what about later on Tuesday and he said the afternoon. I messaged back and said that’s fine I’m busy till dinner , how about 1.30 and he replied with that’s a shame that’s when I’ve got to go out and do my chores . I messaged him back and said forget it

OldPhil 5,656
We use Marketplace extensively to sell items,...of course you get Scammers (daily) and time wasters and dreamers abound... It is so easy for folk to ask, 'Is this item still available,.. I am interested"....to do so, costs them nothing,.. its just pressing a button on their keyboard.. The real trick, is to separate, the clowns from the genuine buyers,...and obviously, not to take anything too seriously... We have found that if people are really serious, and want to buy or view your items,...their interest is fairly obvious.. Sometimes you come unstuck, and it is disappointing to see that strange side of human nature, but on the whole,...if you are a Dealer by nature, and enjoy the craic , the bargaining and subsequent catch and kill then there is a definite buzz to making a good, profitable sale....
