I’m not knocking anyone but it wasn’t just the north that had Salukis and it wasn’t just the north that was matching early on 

I know my old mate B A. Had a pure might have been late 70s I remember him telling me though I can't recall were he said he got it from.

Don't think anyone is denying your late father was instrumental in having his saluki blood in quality coursing dogs. As to the first salukis to be used and crossed with greyhounds I don't think it matters what part of the country they came from. First greyhound x saluki I ever saw was when I was about 15 and the chap who had it was a mate of Crim Smith a well known greyhound racing and coursing man who i believe had also attended saluki coursing events over 50 odd years ago and ended up putting one of is greyhounds to a saluki. A good mate has recently lent me a good book about the saluki.

a lot a knogtellington blood in his dogs good coursing salukis weren’t they 

saluki event in the 60s

 

i think it matters mate because lads were linebreeding without realising even when meeting men up country for a line it was similar blood then they line bred off that still here today 

 

thats the  good thing about books and people unrelated telling the story’s mate you get the truth and a true story of what happened when you ask men all over country about there lines and dogs but ye i still like a bit a saluki blood some say i water that old blood down lol

iveheard  you talk frenchs luke mate that was one of the last litters he’d been at it about em 25 year before that 

pop next season for a day i’ll take you a few spots we course near em .an old farmer in his 90s still in the field with the bulls hunting pics from a kid  from before ww2 first he bred dogs he got all different uns salukis afghans borzois some more me old man was young went threw  them the saluki was better than any and a lot better than the pure greyhounds mainly used for hares 

 

there were other pures used in the line that lads didn’t know were it was from one was a the farmers somewhere in lincoln (cawthorne ) and preston’s salukis across from me but they were from them first dogs the farmer got i was on about so that was same blood 

min not saying in the lines today there isn’t men been at it longer had a bigger influence mate there is look at that merlin eve breeding for instance and all the quality dog men around them litters was massive  in the type a dog we have today them lads walked the land as much as anyone

I think they do run tougher quarry, even if most are just droppers.

theres not much wild game left around the gulf states but some travel into africa to run wild game   gazzell and so on  yes the do run droppers  but hey they do here aswell  but not many will adit to it...

I don't know of any serious lads that use dropper hares mate? My point is though, gazelle and other antelope are a tougher challenge than a brown hare in any condition, they are much faster and have great stamina.
