I used to use potassium permanganate crystals in a bowl of warm water though you can't get hold of them now. Sorry for jinxing you pal it's a feker when the grounds like bell metal and you have dogs that want running. We used to go up on the moors near Sheffield when the ground was like that and give them a spin on the white hares as it was all heather and grass and it didn't bust their feet up.

Ill be walking them moors this week end if ground stays frozen. -6 this morning ere

Plenty of public footpaths to wander off mate just be careful off prying eyes of doo gooders though the harsh weather should put the fair weather walkers off going up there all the year's we went up there only once did we get some bother and that was when my mates came up from London for a morning up there another day that will stay in my memory till the day I die and looking at the old pic's of the day always brings a smile to my face even though it was 30 years ago.

Was that Gordon who ran pure salukis mate. Never met the fella though he did my mate a very big favour in the early 90's in helping my mate getting his dogs back that had been stolen from up here.
