Vets for running dogs

Recommended Posts

Are there any good vets for treating lurchers feet.  Got a toe with two fractures in it so would like some advice and possibly surgery.

Also have had problems in the past with severed tendons - mostly surgery has been unsuccessful but there must be someone that can do it.

I'm in East Anglia but will travel for the right vet.

Thanks

That's tricky injury, I've only had to deal with it once and toe needed amputation, in this case the dog recovered well and could still run well,

Our local vets are good, independent and I trust them with dogs and ferrets.....but their opinions on lameness is far from mine, unless the dog can hardly walk it's acceptable

For orthopedic surgery in East there is the insurance place at Dick whites near Newmarket.

Also East of England practice at Wimpole one of the partners lived 2 doors down from me when he trained at Dick White's and seemed a decent guy.

And there is Robert meek in Hillingdon 07773 327353.  Only greyhound specific vet I know anywhere near. Not been myself but two owners at local whippet racing club say he helped with lameness diagnosis and treatment

Good luck

Paul Yarham(spelling ?) in Attlebourgh is a very good greyhound/running dog vet who has sorted lurchers for me  in the past and i was recomended him by a greyhoundrunner/owner..He also sorted  a eye specialist from newmarket when my terrier went blind and he's a dog breeding friend of mines vet and never had any doub't in him...

Thanks Luckee Legs and Fireman.

I know Dick White's (have used them in the past and currently have a lurcher with an eye problem that's on long term treatment) and I know East of England Veterinary Specialists and have a very high regard for them.  So very good advice and it confirms I'm not missing something obvious.

I don't know Paul Yarham but will look him up, good to know for future.

Ref Robert Meek - it takes the day for me to go to visit him and come back.  He's the best dog osteopath or physio that I've met and definitely worth the visit when I want something looked at or dogs checked over.

Thanks both.
