And what's even worse is when its family members or their close friends that's running and managing the job then it becomes like working for the fekin mafia.

...... had a few bevvies and I'm a bit pissed off.

Short version I was was interviewed for an internal promotion in the business where I currently work for a new role of Ops Manager.

Got down to final 3, for 2 roles.

Today met one of the directors who has told me I challenged the directors board more than the others and challenged their targets in the timescales they set out.

He also said I was "by far and away the stand out candidate in every part" and if they were only going to appoint 1 person to do this role they would have appointed me.... BUT the business wanted to appoint 2 and the other two were more open to working in a pair.

What the f**k?????

Your the best man, but we would rather appoint these two therefore paying twice the money because they are obedient and do what we say?????

Time for change I think.

Dont need to reply lads, just a bit f****d off and nowhere else to vent.

Get me back to the chickens and pigs 🐖 🤣

I think when you critique it yourself again in the cold light of day, you have said it all yourself there mate.

There we’re two roles and the other two seemed more open to making it work as a team.

If they had wanted someone for an individual role who has to do things on their own then they would have chosen you.

Makes total sense to me and is in no way a reflection on your ability, some people just ain’t cut out to share responsibility……I never was and it can lead to conflicts and maybe they don’t want conflicts ?

Anyway, all totally logical as far as I can see.

Yes mate, it definitely does lead to conflict, especially at that level needed 2 strong minded people.

I'm over it now, I'm delivering the biggest single contract the company has ever had at around £11.5m. The 2 promoted are sharing the rest of the little jobs between them....... the fact there was no contest for who was delivering this scheme shows me what the big bosses actually think.

It was actually also one of the reasons they stated, they didn't want to remove me from this scheme. This scheme will be around 30% of the company's turnover so it is the most important role anyway.

Not arsed about a title. I have job security for 12-18m which is more than most, on a day rate I'm happy with, get to lay in my own bed every night.

Maybe it was just my ego that was slightly bruised?

Anyway, bigger picture, better off staying as I am.
