I've done as much research as my brain could cope with . I've gone around and around in circles , and come right back to what I already knew in the first place. From what information I can find , the bottles are different pressure, but the regulators do the job of letting out the correct pressure , and propane and butane operate at about the same pressure . greg64 2,825 Posted October 14 Report Share Posted October 14 (edited) 21 minutes ago, mel b said: From what information I can find , the bottles are different pressure, but the regulators do the job of letting out the correct pressure , and propane and butane operate at about the same pressure . propane operates at 37 mb and butane at 28 mb but if your caravan is a tourer built after i think 2004 and has a bulkhead regulator they will probably work at 30mb and will do for both propane and butane but you will have to change the pig tails (the hose from the bottle to the reg) they use them because bottles in Europe all come with different fittings, but if your caravan is a static with a bottle outside you will have to change the regulator and remember to install another vent ,if being used all winter by you and your family i would really get a gas safe engineer to look at it and get it tested annually ,ive seen them go up in flames and they are like tinder boxes the speed they burn is scary and the burnt aluminium just turns to tinfoil so you really should get it checked out by a proper gas safe fitter Edited October 14 by greg64 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The regulator is the one that was with the caravan when I bought the woodland. I put a four ring gas hob in about five years ago , and that's been faultless , but , now that I know it could be an issue , I'll put a new regulator on there. The bottle is already chained up , I'd never thought about it falling over to be honest, it was purely for security, but now that I know that falling could be an issue, I'll make the chain a bit tighter . I probably should have explained. It's a very old 4 berth tourer . It's only about 10ft long inside . I removed all of the interior , and it's just got two bench seats , a cooker , a sink , and a few cupboards . I put up a solar panel , and chucked in a leisure battery, so that we have lights , and can charge phones etc . It's more camping than caravaning. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Cheers Arry I can honestly say , it's been the very best car I've ever had . It just ticks all the boxes for me . I keep waiting for it to give up the ghost ( its done 180,000 ish), but it just keeps going.
