Guest Geordie
Lol,f****n decent thread this, lol, is it bollox. :11: Cost me £1200 cos i let my 10 month lurcher pup run free about a year ago,got ripped open by 2 dogs, she is still not 100 % probably never will be,biggest mistake i ever made with my first lurcher,i know that now and still regret it happenin, but shit happens, dogs will sometimes fight. Mebbes shudda shot her or had her pts,i went on another board rantin and raving :11: i realise now it was just as much my fault for having her off the lead. Expensive mistake tho
Guest Lurcherbitch
ime gona try and word this as best i can !!!! lets see now . to me i like to take my dogs for a walk mostly on the non comon dog walks ie like to places whare no one els walks there dogs ! now to me taking the dogs for a walk means taking the dogs for a walk and let them free run off of there leads ! is this wrong ? no . if you ask me its not worth taking a dog for a walk without letting it run free for what ever time you see fit ! now if i had my dogs off there leads and running free and they met in with a person walking there dogs on leads i would be right in there leading up my dogs , but if i got lip when doing so i would most likely let my dogs stay off of the there teather sit them down and walk upto you and smack yer teath outa yer f*****g head , while doing this my dogs would still be sitting whare i told them to sit , i must stress this would not aply to a woman , i would just let my dogs rip theres to bits and watch there face as they regret giving me lip , now all this actions for the sake of a few freindly words !!!! cmon dogs here !!!! sory about that [bANNED TEXT] ! its ok no problem ! END OF !! to much messers out there if you ask me ! NOW THATS MY RANT OVER :realmad:      now i feal better :black eye: :11: :11: :11: :11: :11: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I too walk my dog's in an area where we dont bump into many people, but that does not account for lot's of others, they dont have the luxery we have. But to say you would let your dog's rip another dog apart just cause it was walked by a woman!!!!! well, i'd rather you punch me. Like i said in my first post it's the owners to blame but the dog's that pay, yeah i do agree too many messers. WHAT THE f**k HAPPEND TO THE SHOUT BOX?
Guest thunderbelly
was out with my dog yesterday in an area where feral dogs is a huge problem. As I came around the trail I see a large black dog (not a typical feral colour but possible) since my dog is a wimpy little beagle I defend her always (see first post with knife mentioned and heavy boots) since I was carrying my shotgun  I figured one shot will leave me with two in the chamber so a warning shot across the dogs shoulders is sent out  . The next thing I hear is the owner calling his dog in . Never did catch up to the guy to appologise.

Guest Lurcherbitch
I dont wan to have an arguement on here with any one but my terriers have been latched onto a few german shepard or labs When my dogs arent workin I keep them in condition by chaseing a ball on some playing fields that are huge & on a beach that is about 4 miles long so there is plenty of room. Once the dogs (4 terriers & lurcher ) see the balls thats it they are not interested in any thing alse they get tunnel vission all they want is the ball so i throw the balls they race of sometimes theres a wee squabble then they retrieve it & I throw it again you get the picture if there is some else there with a dog I keep well away But every now & then someone comes along & heads straight for me with there dogs of the lead now this place is vast so they could easily go around me . :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: next thing you no a big stupid alsation comes over with the owner shouting its ok he only wants to play ...as long as i keep the dogs focused on the ball its ok but once the other dog starts getting to close they will give it a warning growl if the dog show s any agression back... thats it once one goes it starts a chain reaction then 4 terriers are worrying this big useless lump & when my big dog terrier latches on hes not letting go I know some of you will say i should have them on the lead but they are alway under control & its always the other dogs that come to us I go out my way to keep away from other dogs because evenif they are undercontol they are working terriers its not that they are unpredictable but there not you average pet that will give a dog a bite they will do other dogs some serious damage <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well i for one agree. good post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Just an observation, but I would have thought it was commen sense to put your dogs on leads IF THERE WAS THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE OF MEETING OTHER DOG WALKERS.My pat terrier was savaged by a black lab when she was a pup,she was on the lead and the lab came charging round a blind corner.I could see it was not going to be a playful greeting but couldnt get the bitch off the ground in time.Bloody thing picked my pup up and shook it before a swift kick sent it back from where it came .Whilst I was checking mine out ,a bloke came round the corner and asked me what Id done to HIS dog .As you can imagine the air was blue for awhile. My terrier is now fully grown and well into her working career but to this day she cannot be trusted with bigger ,black dogs. The temperment of working dogs that have seen a bit of the "bite back" quarry is never to be trusted around strange dogs. They take on an air of confidence whether on a hiding to nothing or not .Get 2 of these tykes together off the lead and you are really asking for trouble.Better to be safe and keep dogs on leads in public.
