Good that. “Only fish ladder in the UK with a window” so hasn’t heard of the one that’s been at Pitlochry for decades. Seen a few salmon, trout and eels at Pitlochry…, no sturgeons or otters yet! It also has a fish counter which keeps an annual tally of the number of salmon which run up it.

I went to the pitlochry window twice as a kid, magical place back then, the window has been closed for a number of years nowadays, salmon running upstream and jumping rapids or man made fish ladders are one of nature's great migration spectacles.

Same mack ...when I was in scouts we used to have a two week camp at Loch Tummel just down the road...we went to the salmon ladder a few times...we were always lucky to be camping in the 6 week holiday so they were running

Working in west Wales near @walshie a lady in the local pub said her and her mates used to put a sign in the river carpark saying salmon leaping at 2 pm and then go and watch the tourists turn up...

Used to go to pitlochry all the time as a kid, parents had friends there. Caught my first pike in loch faskally and watched my old man catch a salmon just down from the fish ladder on the Tummel. Saw my only peregrine perched on the dam side one day with my cousin, must have been about 12. Used to love the place, never been since my mam and dad died.

It was a magical place back then,I saw salmon jump often in the river that cuts sunderland in half (sundered land)but the first time seeing them through the window was special.

Sad to hear the window is closed as it must have been over 20 years ago when we had a walk round when up that way on an hawking holiday.
