Whippets, thickets and working dog classes

Any whippet that hunts rough country will be marked up. Those that only ever get a run in a clean paddock might get away with out a mark. But all the dogs at working dog shows are not nessessarily hunted.

A racing whippet breeder from the Midlands who I bought a collie x whippet from told me that, of all her whippets, the only ones with poor feet were the ones with racing greyhound blood.

Maybe  like been said, that  extra bulk from the greyhound blood, would give poss feet/wrist  probs. Just food for thought, I wonder if deerhounds and there is have feet/wrist  probs. As a deerhound big dog in pure form, and deerhoundx grey big typex. My big gsdx grey never  had feet/wrist probs  Maybe it just greyhound  then.like said alot of none ped male whippets were 24 in 44-35 lb strong  little dogs. Never heard of foot probs. OK it on flat grass track, but couple lads used them on rabbits lamping   sharpen  them up. And them buggers pile into foxes no prob

The staghounds over here have good, tough feet, I always thought they got that off the deerhound but I don't know anyone that works deerhounds apart from the fox hunters I got my russells off. They did try a deerhound but it was too soft for the work and went back to staghounds. I'd imagine it was off show stuff.

OK fair enough, yeh lot deerhounds have soft temps , that's why the out x to greyhound. Wheaten, apbt, to put more guts in them true. Justvout of intreast  what breeds are in your staghounds ? I spoke to Dan that used be on here  few times with yote hounds ,he said  they basically  greyhound x deerhound,  bre over 100s , might been drop pit in them way back. But just bred  best  to best, and culled hard to keep  good hard working line. 28-30in  up to 100lb, but didn't  like much bigger, great stamina,  good feet, jaw, plenty guts to grab a 35-40lb note. Think we could breed similar  in UK, but lot seem like  bullx greys with drop saluki  in mix, and they do the job  as they say.

How can you say that. When you don't know  what there hunting? What did say read  a fookin again,  I said the yote hounds in America  are the ones  I did take big intreast. As spoke to Dan lot of times about his dogs. And don't say a poxy 19 lb dogfox is tougher  than tough 35lb yote .lol  like said to  him.on the thread  you need other breeds in the deerhound, to make them.good alround hunting dog.?

i’ve seen plenty of the yanks  and aussies hunting i’d rap it in if that was the quarry and way to go about it amateur 

and  these imaginary hunting scenarios and crosses are just that imaginary lol 

you brought any a that shite here slipped it single it wouldnt catch a f***ing scent never mind what it was chasing lol 

there’s plenty a deerhound crosses would slay a coyote 4s up ffs lol

herding types seem good and we know which has the best feet by a margin lol

yeh, and thats what i said alot put apbt in the mix, for that very reason. ok your the  expert  on here lol , back on track  do whippets have better  feet than greyhounds . i did say that  when i raced none ped whippets , never heard of bad foot probs , ok on flat grass , but could lads used there males on rabbits  day/ night  these dogs hit 23 in 35 lb  strong little dogs pile into foxes no prob.  just out of interest  what  type x do you think , be a good alrounder  night/ day , that rabbit, fox, deer big/ small  .  i will admit  that most of my hunting for 35 years been lamping  , never had  day time hare dogs like you had but did have good whippet x grey bitch with drop collie in it looked like greyhound , she  caught couple in day fast/agile bitch  nice alrounder lived till 14 .

to the question i’d say a good coursing bred with a drop a bull for all round but they won’t stop the strong hares mate only only one type do that and only the best of that type
