When I used to do a bit I felt having fit active ferrets kept in a run with kibble worked for me , I'd not hunt with hungry ferrets and I'd not let them gorge on a rabbit beforehand.

always had access to food 24/7 i want them to hunt because they want too not because there hungry and to kill and eat every rabbit

I did that before with the ferret I had years ago could fill the bowl and next day I’d go out it was still half full just add into it, but 1 of the 2 ferrets Ive got the now is really greedy and eats and eats the other is normal size and weight the other is much heavier both siblings from same litter so I’ve just been sorting an amount I think is ok for them and feeding them in the morning usually around 7am every morning.

A adult ferret worked regular will soon learn the knack of how to kill rabbits and move on which is fine if your only out a couple of hours on a sunday morning , but doing pest control you want every rabbit out making sure there dead and the burrows empty , So anything that helps you got to try and a well fed ferret is a start

Thanks mate. I usually feed them in the morning so will just stick to my normal schedule and feed them before leaving. Thanks
