philpot 4,967
Just got back from 2 weeks in Suffolk at our favourite place, Highlodge shooting ground where we rent a lovely lodge and the lake is 20' in front of our verander. The weather is normally spot on in early September but this time we had some rain and high winds along with cold nights. As with british weather, it soon changed and the sun blasted down and out came the fishing rods.................................I would normally have around 6 carp per session (not the big boys like we have in my syndicate pond however) but not this time, the lilley pads had been cut right back in my swim and the fish moved over to where there were plenty of pads which was not where I could fish. Trish and I went to shoot some clays, this ground is fantastic and we had decided to buy cartridges from the ground rather than take our stock but guess who had left their shotgun licenses at home so we could not buy any until my daughter brought the licenses with her halfway through the holiday. Oh well never mind I still have my air rifle to use on their range, I had taken my Ultra and air tank so I could have a few sessions..........................no bloody filler for the air, yes it was still in the drawer at home so no air rifle shooting either. I have never forgotten so many things, there were other items as well but nevertheless it did not bugger things up too much as the days were warm and sunny so we did a bit of sea fishing and just relaxed in a place we love so not such a great loss. On the Friday of the second week I thought I would just clear a few things out of the boot area ready for packing the car the next morning putting some of my larger fishing reels under the boot floor in the space where a spare wheel would normally be found (no spare on my car ) and suddenly I felt a stabbing pain in my back, I had put my back out and could hardly walk it was so painfull. We had planned to spend the last day on the beach and drive home late in the day but this was not going happen so my poor wife had to do all the packing then pack the car, drive the 4 hours home, then unpack the car and put everything away etc. I am lucky that my car has heated seats which are heated all up the back of the seat as well so at least I has a reasonable ride home. I am still having great trouble getting out of a chair ......................... fcuking back. Next time I am going to make a list................................ Phil 1 Quote Link to post
