German shepherds

Recommended Posts

Not sure which section this should be in , but any suggestions where to source a decent old school straight backed German shepherd from? Be for a pet , so temperament is top of the list.

Wouldn’t be without one

To the untrained eye it almost appears spaniel like

I love our shepherds good with kids easy to train , let you know If someone Is around,  we looked at loads of litters before getting ours , the working line ones would of been to much for what we need

I don't know too much about gsd but I've seen there can be some lines mire highly strung than others, nearly ads bad as a malinois.  A friend of mine breeds/trains gsd for protection and family dogs which seem nice enough dogs for what they do and I certainly wouldn't want to be the person who broke in there.

It's a dog i have never fancied owning though i saw a jet black one recently that was a corker looks and temperament wise.

We had one when I was a kid, it was a great deterrent. Had a bark like thunder but was as soft as shit, my old man got our first Akita after he died, like chalk & cheese. Lol

Very popular dog when I was a kid in the 60s a uncle had two that were on his allotment that were noisy guard dogs i used to watch house sparrows collecting the hair off them when he brushed them out as they always appeared to be moulting.

Looks wise I think the Akita is a much better looking dog, I don't think I'd ever own a German Shepherd again.

Never owned any other type of dog mate bar lurchers spaniels and the odd terrier though i might consider another breed of dog when I retire in a couple of years.
