Young ferrets probably not going deep enough only way to know for sure is after they worked a warren run a experienced ferret threw it , and keep doing it till the older ferret goes to ground and doesnt push a rabbit out

Yeah unfortunately I’ve just started back at ferreting the his year and don’t have any older ferrets. I know a few a guys in my area but problem is if I take them with me il give away my secret spots. And I don’t want everyone turning up asking farmers I got permission on or just showing up without permission and farmer ends up just stopping it for me to.

Nice one Tam but don’t get greedy. You want to leave the ones you’ve done alone to let the rabbits settle. Try to ferret fresh, small, burrows. Smaller the better as long as they are obviously being used. I wish you and yours a happy Xmas. Stay lucky. Jok.

Another 3 today.. 2 made it threw the nets and 1 I broke its neck a tossed it down looked dead to me got up and ran minute later. No make that mistake again. Could have been doing with a long net missed a good few burrows because of over growth was loosing rabbits there too. Need to look out long nets now.

Your young kits are doing well, I thought they would be working about Christmas time. The more you use them now the better they will be IMO. I like your honesty and most of us have done that at least once. I had a farmer friend helping use one day we were catching a lot that day and several he caught legged  and hung up only for them come back to life and be wriggling around hung up on the hedge. It all makes for memories and a good laugh after or in the pub. I love the batter when out giving each other stick for missing one lol.

Good luck and many rabbits the future Tam.
