BEARINATOR 2,872
It’s with the cold spell after the fake spring we had, starting to see more flying about the garden and woods now and only noticed the bats flying again the past month as well

jukel123 8,751
Roughly half the number I usually get. I've planted my garden with insect attracting plants and have two big wildlife ponds. No peacock butterflies, half the red admirals and maybe an eighth of the tortoishells. Very few wasps but plenty of bees including honey bees. I've had hardly any daddy longlegs this year. Wet summer, insectides or natural cycles? Dunno. I've got some outbuildings. I used to get a minimum of 6 swallow nests. This year ...none. Never heard a cuckoo this year. I've got bat boxes.. no residents this year. We're doomed. Doomed I tell ye! gnipper 6,546
I wonder how many creatures larvae or dormant nest drowned last year due to the wet weather? I don't know what it's like where everyone else is but it's a bumper year for mosquitoes round here
iworkwhippets 12,732
What I find disturbing is this, every year until now, I wait for the swallows n swifts to arrive, not a single one, of either, the swallows have nested previously outside my bedroom window, so when they nest I don't ever open the window till they have gone, it was nice to hear the young chatter when the parents came wi grub, they deffo have not been over my area this year ,masonry wasps always nest just outside my front door, nothing this year
