Tiny House Build

My daughter has decided after 6 months of mortgage that it’s a massive scam and is selling her house and wants me to build her a tiny home on my place (she has also aimed out the boyfriend as well which is a bonus ! Lol )

So for any lads that may be interested, I’ve made a start and here is a few photos.

Ill post a few more as we go along

The base is an old 2 berth caravan that we stripped down and tipped, I’ve then had a local old boy weld me up a 6m long frame to fix on the top of the caravan chassis, the chassis are approx 1300mm wide.

All strong box tube, we wire brushed and painted it in red oxide metal paint.

Ive been making the floor up under cover while I waited for the frame to be finished, 2m sections x 3m wide (which is going to be the width of her little house).

7 x 1.5 treated timber just done simple framing style, had the little man out helping fix the joist hangers which are really just a belt and braces job because the joists are all fixed to the frame anyway.

Top of the pile here is the section that will sit over the wheels

She got some nice big 2nd hand windows in UPVC free of charge which you can see in the background.

Going to paint them black to match the black metal corrugated cladding I’m going to finish the place in.

Got a little log burner as well which needs a tidy up.

Ill post a few more as I go along

Out this morning getting the chassis on blocks and levelled. Then lifted the floor into the frame, got that squared and level and all bolted together……enlisted the help of the big idiot son, save

Going to add 4 proper stands each side to the outside of the frame to take out any flex and the strap it down to the concrete pad with hilti “O” bolts. Didn't get much help from the little man, t

Thinking about this last night mate and as the lads have said ventilation is key, I would also use a fibre cement board on the roof, if use profile 3 style.. weve done a few domestic projects with it in black or slate blue, looks really smart..biggest advantage is it minimises the noise of rain plus doesn't sweat like a tin sheet...  I clad the inside of my bar with cut down pallet wood, it looks really authentic and is easy to use/cheap

i ain’t seen them about you get the little cement boards for pointing your gable ends up but not seen the full sheets

Yes like the old asbestos sheets but no asbestos, plus can get coloured, black or slate blue look best for domestic imo.. lots of positives to using this instead of tin plus imo they look smarter than your traditional tin sheet and same kind of cost... We do a fair bit of bespoke builds, using different materials, hand pressed aluminium or zinc etc ... But I'd go profile 3 at my place and I know Wilf place is similar

Brothers just done a huge extension in his, used copper fascias , black hand pressed material, aluminium caps in black etc...it looks the bollocks, but his is a fairly new house and it really suits thar type... Wilfs older/agricultural type place will suit this system imo

I’ll check price and availability mate, remember I live in Leprechaun land and they would just look at me like I was talking Chinese if I said that lot to them……and it’s probably about €4 million a sheet difference compared to the UK ! Lol
