I love listening to accents. The only ones I'm not partial to are the Belfast accent. They always seen to be SHOUTING some fundamentalist religious crap and the Birmingham accent, it seems so slow and slightly re...tarde...ed. lol

People think there's only one Scottish accent. In fact there's dozens. The same is true of Ireland.

Yeh the west north West coast of Scotland is a lovely sounding accent it's very soft...where as a broad Glaswegen is really harsh sounding

Must admit that phrase "why hi hinnie"..is one I herd alot listening to conversations between my mum..and her sisters...and the word pet

One of my sisters lives in London, her partner always asks her has she been talking to me as we both slip into how we used to talk when chatting to each other. My brother married a lady from East London and lives in deptford, you can't tell he was born in the NE as he has a very neutral accent.

I’ve been watching reruns of Rab C Nesbitt lately and the Govan Glasgow accent must be as alien to people from Edinburgh as Han Chinese !

Ive got a WhatsApp group with members from Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle, Manchester, London, etc. and I tell them not to voice message me , it’s easier for me to read a message than try to decipher the accents ! LOL !

Cheers.

I was in Gran Canaria last year and a 'lookie lookie' illegal immigrant  from the desert somewhere was flogging bracelets and football scarfs. He spoke amazing English and was asking for good openers to approach tourists from different parts of the UK. So I said if if you see any  Geordies say "  Shearer ". If you see any Celtic supporters say " the only king Billy is Billy Mc Neil". If you see any Rangers supporters say "f**k off ya blue nosed b*****d".

A young mate of mine at school sounded just the same as us lot from Mansfield...but as soon as he walked through his front door at home with his parents he was a full blown jock....his mum and dad were from Scotland and his dad worked in local pit...

The Edinburgh accent is very refined. Sex is what carries coal.

Scottish joke.......You know it's cold in Edinburgh if the Edinburgh lawyers and businessmen have got their hands in their pockets, ...........instead of someone else's.

I worked with two lads who were cousins whose parents migrated from Glasgow to Corby to work in the steelworks, they were born and grew up in Corby but both had broad Scot’s accents,

Cheers.

Yes mate Millets took the one over in Rotherham but sadly along with other decent shops they have gone.

When I was barely into my teens I used to walk four miles to Newcastle and spend the day rummaging in the Army & Navy stores; piles of old civil defence uniforms on the floor, Red guardsmen tunics hanging on racks, but what I liked was the American gear, I managed to buy a USAF A1 leather flight jacket and a CHiPS leather motorcycle jacket. Very expensive items now. Ex Korean and Vietnamese war kit, old 38 pattern British kit. It was like Aladins Cave to me !

Cheers.
