I read something in a lurcher book about a pack of them chasing a hare and then a whippet was slipped and caught the hare, the beagles then caught and ate the whippet, lol. Don't know if it's a true story. My Beagles would have ago at eating themselves if they had the chance.lol No it's a couple of lurchers ,one doesn't want the other to bring it back, so there's a bit of pushing and shoving, if they catch alone they turn up with it, no problems . If there is a number involved, a tougher old buck will be given up without damage being much tougher in the skin, however a fat soft doe won't last long if I don't intervene .I swear blue murder, as I'm about to reach out and get my, prize, but I'd refer one of them didn't decide my hand looked like a some kind of target and went for the catch, fangs showing . 1 Quote Link to post

Don't know if it's a true story. Yes, some I brought some I bred, that's after a spell of ten years of not owning one, that's when I swore I wouldn't own another damn beagle. Within in that spell I bred & kept some beagle x terriers. They went really well in the field, but I missed the sounds of hounds jumping a rabbit, so since I had the foxhound I thought it's best to make sure she was run with some other type of hound breed to add push. The 3 x2.5-year-olds are now going good, and I've started the other 4 pups (9-month-old)and they are keen as. It's always been part of my retirement plan to breed for sale ,some beagle pups as they are very much sort after here ,but to date due to the very high living costs it's a nor runner atm until things pick up . If it's anything like Oz I think living costs are going to get worse and most people don't have time for even a pet dog now, it's a sad world. Quote Link to post
