Recommended Posts

Yes I know this type post done few times, and Dave our mod, on knows the breed inside out, and I've Dave ridgeback  bitch before cracking  animal.  The reason put this post on I seen a cracking male ridgeback  Friday in Hereford  when I was going to black hoss bank. This dog brill  about 27 in, good 95lb, looked lot big bigger than my old dog Buck , he 28in   but camped him when younger and fit about  87lb. My mate in brum  did have a lurcher with ridgeback  in it only about 1/4  in it, butvthatcwas good dog, do fox no prob. It deff give good wind ,good feet, power,  OK bidable.  Don't get wrong  having had 3 pit x greys in the past, when we'll bred  you got very good lurcher ,  a line bred 2nd gen 1x  pit x grey  are spot on for most things. But just thought that them ridgeback  looked good animals, and there hound as well, and deff good guard for your  property. 👍

Some are nice looking dogs but I don't understand why anyone would want to cross one with a greyhound mate when there's much better options out there?

I bet there’s lot of huntsmen said same about foxhound lurchers and shoot men about the gun dog lurchers . Sometimes it produces a decent animal sometimes it doesn’t .but until it’s tried we don’t know.

Used to be a few Ridgeback x bull greys around the South Wales valleys...I believe Wales1234 off here had a bitch probably 10 yrs or more ago now....was a big reddish dog called Havoc that belonged to some lads that did the terriers for a pack of hounds...only ever saw it around a hole, can't comment on iff, it could run or not...ones I've seen was strong looking sorts like half x bullgreys👍

The difference is foxhounds are working machines? Of course, if you put many dogs over a greyhound you may get some surprising results in a good way.

I suppose it depended on what they wanted feet, nose , toughness ,bit of brain , most people were trying different breeds to come up with the next wonder cross some didn’t want to use a collie or a bedlington etc

I fancied one at one point but the few I've met are aloof and seem less connected that other breeds , but some examples like Dave's most recent bitch certainly have an appealing stamp good feet and strong , but in a lurcher I'd go for proven bull x .

I could see working foxhound being a great addition to a lurcher, providing one of the traits it brings doesn't include opening up. Lol

Now there bloke on here I know. And few moochers with.he had foxhound x grey not quite how much foxhound was in it, but from what he  fair bit in it.had head on it as big as bucket   big strong thing it was big boned , loved the fox job, and was quite lamping .think it got bit sharp  with other dogs.was good round holes pull anything  out. But as been said plenty of other lurchers , some lads  I the black country w-ton used breed pit x grey x deerhound x greys  now there type did real well lamping. They took most stuff it  they were slipped on.big dogs but balanced  OK, the bulldog drop bit size down as well.nice steady dogs to be around a x I like, pity not more about  to choose from.
