That's what I've bought them for. Seen a chap on local river fishing for wild trout an chub. So thought Al give them a bash. Plus when am over at the coast off pier think they may do good there too or on beach. 1 Quote Link to post

From my experience it’s the sound (plop) of the plug hitting the water they respond to you don’t even have to retrieve if they are there they’ll smash them straight away 2 Quote Link to post

Bangersanmash 2,796
Well yesterday went out for a few hour on local river. The first half an hour had nothing but a nightmare with my new rod and reel. With the reel being a multipliyer reel. Bird nesting all the time. Had me in tears nearly lol. So changed back to my normal reel. I'm guessing it was due to the plug not weighing much. And the line being 25lb nylon. Think if I'd had a decent size plug or spinner on the reel would of been fine. Put some backing on first, then about 50/60 meters of braid, and practice throwing it about, you will master it 1 Quote Link to post

Forgot about the f**k about lol. When a filled the reel with new nylon. Before hand soak it in washing up liquid with luke warm water in a bowl to softed the nylon. Then reeled it on too the reel holding the line against the rod with My hand cleaning the line with a tea towel , at the same time when running it threw. It Was my grandfather that told me that trick. Al give it ago like you just advised. A think it maybe that the plug was too light not putting any tension on the line to keep it flowing smooth out of the reel. A may of bought the wrong reel 2 Quote Link to post

Plugs ... or poppers (that's what therr called ) stay on the top I use alot of them in heavy lily pad area the ones you have there the bigger the clear spade on the front ( looks like a duck beak ) the further down they will swim , if you want poppers the have a round scooped face like the lure has its mouth open and no clear spade , I learnt the hard ways when I baught a beautifull looking lure cast it reeled it and snagged it after 30 mins I got it back looked at pack and it said deep dice to 3 meters lol 1 Quote Link to post
Elchapo 3,166
They look perfect tho for drop offs , if you could cast your line along the edge the drop off and reel in fast 2 or 3 short spins to set the depth and then a real slow steady you'd catch some stuff with them little ones 1 Quote Link to post
