But after what happened to me last Friday. and in my eyes the 1st class service I received from the ambulance paramedics and stoke University hospital..I was in theater in just over 5 mins upon arrival to the hospital..

I won't moan again about how much tax I pay..as my contribution and everyone else's is what allows the NHS to exist..

And what struck me lying on the bed wide awake in the theater with the surgeon working on me and the occasional vocal direction of a professor in the corner of the room was the total professional way they went about there work..very impressive to be honest..

As I've said before about real hero's them hospital staff and surgeons etc are another level..not these stupid singers and film actors who we are told are super stars..they ain't nothing in my eyes apart from a distraction from the real super stars of this world..

I’d expect them to be professional… they do great jobs … but they aren’t hero’ anymore than farmers … without witch you wouldn’t be here because you’d have no food ….  what did you expect … yo … Bert throw me another haribo and I’ll see if I can catch it in my mouth …. It’s a operating theatre… . Not all your tax goes there … you pay the policeman that welcomes the migrants onto the beach and gives them a blanket paid for by you …..

I haven't mentioned farmers...the TV and newspapers ram it down our throats that singers and film actors are super stars or even mega stars..they ain't that was my point..

People in everyday stressfull jobs are real super stars..that's what I'm getting at..and even more so people who have people's lives in there hands everyday..in my eyes are exceptional people..living with the good and the bad of such a job is way above my head...

You only mentioned the nhs though because they did you a service …. If you’d been pulled out of a fire it would have been firefighters ….what’s the definition of a stressful job?? …. They choose to do it … not knocking them but they aren’t forced to do it .

I mentioned how amazing in my eyes surgeons really are years ago on here when they saved my sons life when he was 2 days old..

Operating on a few day old baby's has to be 1 of the most stressfull jobs there is surely..saving some and losing some..good and bad days..and after a bad day going back into work to go through it all again the next day...

People's lives in your hands everyday has to be 1 of the most stressful jobs surely...

I couldn't handle the pressure and stress of that job..and I'm quite sure 99.9% of the population couldn't either..

I meant to say with taxes

Ah, ok !

Ive spent some time in the UAE, my daughter did part of her schooling there and lived and worked there as a manager of corporate accounts for Barclays in Dubai.

Back then there were no taxes but they’ve followed Saudi and now have a 5% vat on certain things, there’s some other taxes like customs tax but there’s no income tax or national insurance or tax on fuel, etc. Goods were very cheap anyway so the vat didn’t really make much difference.

Things are probably more expensive now, I haven’t been for a few years since I went over to see Hamad Ghunaims saluki centre.

When I lived in Saudi there were no taxes whatsoever but there’s now 5% vat on most things, but everything is still mainly extremely cheap.

Cheers.

Which is complete bollocks because the NHS has been functioning much better not so long ago with a large population.

To quote Donald Trump "I have no idea what you are on about and I don't think you have either" so I will bow to your superior knowledge and give you a pacifying thumbs up 👍

I'll remind you, "we would still be waiting 6 months for a doctor's appointment."

Well no we wouldn't, because not so long back our health service was ticking over nicely, even with a population of 60+ million. But you're right, we've flogged a dead horse here, just going around in circles. 👍

Well that was my experience and that of many others, sorry it didn't fit in with whatever narrative you had yesterday. 👍

It's well known that it isn't at it's best now. But it is still a massive success, just look at King, the NHS is worth it's weight in gold, we should treasure it.

Fuming here, Edinburgh is set to introduce a tourist tax. I've never been but they can now bollocks!

What's wrong with that there only using that money and putting it back into tourism so you get a better experience ... it's a win win

I agree with you the NHS even though it needs improving it's the only thing we have left that was a huge benefit to the working class who built this country. I don't know if it's the same with the company you work for mate but the one i work for they are always trying to push the Westfield scheme on to us that's got me thinking there must be some sort of benefit for companies to do this to boost the private sector health care and even though i don't pay into it directly out of my wages i have recently got some money back off them for glasses .
