I Personally don't cut into the nail bed mate hear of people who do though. I use a small pet grinder and frequently takes 5 minutes only grinding back the hook what you can take off in 5 minutes would take weeks on the road, pretty easy to judge what your taking off and if people aren't confident the dog will start to pull back when getting to close to the quicks. if dogs nails are long take a bit off wait a week or two let the quick move back and then take a little off again and repeat until at the desired length. Like anything else best to start doing it as a pup so there used to the noise and vibration starting to do it with older dogs might be difficult but every dog is different 1 Quote Link to post

Yes mate it can mate if you just keep holding it in the one position. But I grind down the middle of the nails first and then at each side of the nails basically just on each nail for a few seconds, much easier and better than using nail clippers especially on black nails like my bitch Quote Link to post
