Took the dog to the store

Recommended Posts

So had to go buy a new stove and since the store is big and pet friendly decided to bring the new dog along since she loves car rides.

Anyhow walking her around while shopping had a lot of people stop to pet and ask about her which is fine and she really enjoyed it but what was a bit crazy was I kept having people ask why I didn't get a pit. Like they would walk over look at her look at me as about her then ask why not a pitbull.Would tell them I don't have much interest in one especially a pure bred one due to how people act around them, and they would look at me like I'm nuts. Had someone finally say it's weird for a black guy not to have a pit. Even worse when I told them we got Bug her from the pound and wasn't really sure what she was. Most of them could not believe something without papers and all the other high end whatever was so well behaved and listened. Which suprised me because really all she did was walk back to me when I called her and gave a lil tug on her leash... I mean it's seriously not much at all. Actually had somone ask how much I had to whoop on her to make her listen and he was just flabbergasted when I said none past a nope pop every now and then and looked at him like he was crazy.

Some strange folks out now

days

From that angle, she just looks like a brindle lurcher, wolfy.

Yeeeah ..no the amount of time I've had short haired dogs pull a Houdini and slip out with just a collar , it's enough that if I'm in public they get a harness. Especially with this one , about every time my wife tries to put her Ron a tie out she comes back to her running around free as a bird and collar off .

But again she only wears it where where eout in town

Not really honestly. As long as the dog has a lil sense their fine. Most snake bites are easy enough to deal with , coyotes can be a problem but it their not too bull headed / playful it's fine. Coyotes learn pretty quick how easy it is to lure a dog away and to the rest of the pack by acting like they wanna play. Live stock.... Well usually only take one good kick and they'll learn.

Parvo was a it of a problem but stared giving them a 7way shot from the feed store so that's not much of a problem anymore, same with heart worms.... Dont have gators around here.

Really just making sure they don't get ran over or shot during hunting season are my only real concerns

Nothing like a harness to encourage a dog to pull on a lead. Daft device imo.

We've got a whippet which the Mrs dotes on. Her mate has a litter sister. Ours has a collar. It doesn't pull on the lead. Her friend's dog has a harness and it pulls like a sled dog. Go figure.

If she's slipping her collar then it's not tight enough, harnesses are for sled dogs and weight pulling

Tell her to put a nappy on instead.

The shame and embarrassment. A working bred terrier (proper) reduced to a harness but also one of those extendible dog leads. If he gets himself too exited these days with a collar around his neck he has a turn, flops town and needs a moment. Due to the collar IMO. The extendible lead thing... lads have screeched to a halt driving on roads that he is walked on, and took the piss,. Lads from the past. Nice though that they are still alive 😉
