We retired at 51, never claimed anything off the government but still paid our taxes on all the things we are taxed on, Road Tax, Council Tax, Petrol and Diesel Tax , VAT ON what we buy, including VAT on gas and electricity, tax on beer and wine and spirits, tax on the interest on our savings. Yes, there are the people who won’t work, but there are many others in the 10 million who aren’t on benefits and aren’t a drain on the countries finances. A lot of this there claiming dole bla bla is imo a load of bollox as a lad I know who came out of work and still lives at home has had to go through all sorts with the job centre to get a few quid he is entitled to after paying full stamp and has recently been offered a cash in hand job so has feked the job centre off straight away. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

You could probably add some like Prince Andrew in on that figure, it’s not just the number of people out of work and claiming benefits, it also includes people in hospital, nursing homes etc. people who chose to live in places like Spain and Portugal and even possibly you if you are still on the electoral register in the UK.
