I hate to see players getting the ball and then look up to decide what to do with it. Looking at their team mates to say "who wants it?". Often resulting in a side or back pass. Bruno and Tonali read the game a second before the mere mortals around them see it. Sean Longstaff is terrible for it. In his defence, the Newcastle sides that he has played in and managers he has played under during his formative years would play most of the game without the ball. In possession players were terrified to lose it, and losing possession would bring moans and groans from the crowd. The current midfield get the ball forward at every opportunity. If it gets intercepted another Newcastle player will regain possession before the opposing player has made his mind up what what to do. And then we are 20/30 yards further up the pitch. But Bruno and Tonali have the footballing brain, confidence and skill to make it happen. Did you see the clip of Pirlo’s free kick in that legends game ?
eastcoast 4,321
I watched the Manchester derby today. United and City being 2 of the greatest clubs in the EPL era. Absolute dross from both of them. It really is a funny old game.

Anyone who has followed Declan Rice career will know the lad is an absolute baller…..from years ago as a kid in a cup game against Cheltenham Town (I think) just making real simple 5 and 10 yard passes, mature football way beyond his years to watching videos of him pinging 50 yard balls into mini goals to last night……he is unbelievable and he makes quality look so simple that he don’t fully get the recognition such a class player deserves. If he was a centre forward or a winger applying the same class to what they do he would be the biggest name in word football ! We will look back in years to come and put him up there with the greats, you can take that to the bank.

Schar winding up their young left back at every opportunity. Trying get a reaction but at the same time educating the young lad in the dark arts. Then a team mate getting carded trying to protect him. Loved it.

A massive deflection for the first goal, and a Dan Burn own goal for the fourth. Then again , Villa hit the woodwork three times, so were worthy winners. Newcastle have been on a great run, losing this one doesn’t mean we’re not in pole position to finish in the top five and a Champions League slot against the teams below us. Cheers. eastcoast 4,321
I did watch the Newcastle game. Even though Villa also had a mid-week match and have played more than us this season fatigue must have been a contributing factor on our performance. The energy and intensity that we played with on Wednesday cannot be repeated 3 days later. Highlighting the need for more depth next season when we will have mid-week games in Europe. Easier said than done of course even without FFP, or whatever it is called now, to replicate the quality and character of players that we have recruited since the takeover. My original plans for the game had changed as the Villa supporting friend who I usually watch the games between our 2 clubs with and have for years cancelled as he is not in great form at the moment. At least the result would have put a smile on his face. Brummy t##t!

He scared me watching him on the box.lol You had to watch his tackles peeping through your fingers. He moved to Glasgow Rangers as you know and he was hated by the Celtic fans more than Diouf which was quite an achievement. I don't think he could play in the modern game. Rangers v Kilmarnock he nearly halved Tommy burns in two… mad fecker we loved him
