Ethan gunn 1
Hi just had my first litter and they are 6 weeks on Monday, eating rabbit, pigeon, mice, dry food and drinking I’ve spoken to some people and different people say different things some say I should separate them around 7 weeks some dont Separate them at all but I’ve heard of mothers eating their kits at 7 weeks old so the question I’m asking is should I put the mother back in with my other Jill’s so I can really start to handle the kits on their own, cheers Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,466
They'll be fine with or without her from 6/7 weeks old but like you say it's easier to handle them with her out the way. She will be going potty to get to them at first but will calm down. 1 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,476
As long as they are eating and drinking fine you should be able to take the Jill away too wean the kits and help the jill build herself back up . But if your worried about it take her out for a hour ,then two then three till your only putting her in at night in case a odd slow kit needs a bit of milk as a top up . But only you sees the condition of your kits and jill Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,120
Leave her with them ...6 week is far to young....yes they would be fine...but the mother provides more than just milk... 2 Quote Link to post

Always used to leave the kits a Jill’s together. I did let the Jill’s out and give them time on their own but always kept together in the court 1 Quote Link to post
Ethan gunn 1
Yes thanks for the answers, I ended up taking her out so I could handle the kits more, they are eating half a rabbit per night and drinking from the bottle so I think they are coming on good, just like gnipper said she was going crazy she will be alright tho seems to be settling down with the other 2, cheers for the help Quote Link to post

Moonlighter123 155
I tend to remove them in the daytime from their mother at about 6/7 weeks.. I have a day time run that I make which is like a puppy pen. It’s perfect for handling them, especially as I’ve got kids and all there friends picking them up daily. Then at night time I put them back with the mother. I do this until they are sold . 1 Quote Link to post
